Job Overview:

The Taxation Administrator provide support to CAPC’s tax and accounting department. Their role is a combination of administrative assistance and accounting support. They must be able to run an office, as well as perform higher level functions, such as processing tax returns and maintaining databases. They do this by interviewing their clients to gather information about their financial records.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in preparing financial documents for businesses and individuals to comply with the law.
  • Interview clients to acquire information about taxable income, previous tax returns, deductible expenses, or any allowances incurred.
  • Calculate fees to charge clients following the tax service offered depending on difficulty and time spent.
  • Prepare the necessary paperwork for tax payments and returns.
  • File annual or quarterly tax returns on behalf of CAPC, its affiliates and subsidies.
  • Review and file customers’ tax returns.
  • Verify the accuracy of the records by manually reviewing the data input on forms that have arithmetic or data entry errors.
  • Prepare tax payments.
  • Organize and update tax databases using tax software programs.
  • Analyze and review complicated forms.
  • Prepare reports and financial documentation.
  • File paperwork, perform data entry, scan documents, and receive and sort mail.
  • Answer department client calls, greet customers, make appointments, and respond to questions and complaints.
  • Have a good understanding of the tax laws and regulations in order to perform this duty.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Monitor any variances from the projected budget.
  • Follow the company’s information security and privacy policies and procedures in all aspects of work as part of the company’s compliance to ISMS and PIMS.

 

Key Competencies

  • Proficiency in computer programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, and database systems.
  • Using office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, and scanners.
  • Having basic mathematical skills.
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information properly.
  • Performing clerical duties.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Education & Experience

  • Degree/Diploma in Accounting or similar discipline.
  • 3 years of proven experience in a tax preparation function.
  • Public accounting experience an asset.
  • Special consideration given to student graduating from a coop accounting program at Community College or University.

 

Work Environment

CAPC work environment typically involves working in an office and regular hours.

Salary Range: $35,000 – $48,000
